The UAS advantage –
Unmanned Aircraft remote sensing can provide First Responders a tool that they can rapidly deploy to assess real time conditions. Unlike manned aircraft, a UAS can be deployed without a need for take off / landing facilities. Conditions that might not be suitable for aircraft (e.g. smoke) can be overcome through the use of non-visual sensors such as thermal and infrared imaging.
For safety and security applications, an unmanned system (tethered or untethered) can be deployed to provide persistent monitoring. The cost of operations can be a fraction of direct personnel monitoring or other remote sensing platforms such as manned aircraft.
Where needed, AgTS can also provide a Mobile Operations Center (MOC) as a command and control center to host communications and data analysis in the field.
For persistent security monitoring, AgTS has teamed up with HoverFly Technologies to provide tethered solutions to our customers. Through a tether, advanced sensors (including EO/IR and Thermal) with higher powering needs can be used continuously (24 hours per day; 365 days per year). Tethered solutions provide many of the advantages of UAS (low cost, portability) with less restrictions given the command and control of tethering. Daisy chaining resources can further expand coverage to meet very large area surveillance needs. Taken together, Tethered solution can in many cases provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional physical security inspections. Ideal applications include port security, oil and natural gas production and anti-poaching surveillance.
